316 N MacDill Avenue – A Celebration of Family and Progress
Recently Domain Homes purchased a parcel of land at 316 N MacDill Avenue in Tampa, which included a large tear-down house built in 1950. Our plan was to construct four new homes in North Hyde Park, but little did we know that this property had so much meaning to a family and the community.
It just so happens that the seller of the property, Sam Giunta, lives next-door to one of our sales associates and mentioned the sale of the land. Sam told our sales associate that he and his siblings were glad to sell it, but that they had made many memories and enjoyed countless good times as a family. His father, Angelo Giunta, a hard working plumber, had the home built on the location. He was the general contractor and, of course, did all the plumbing. His wife, Rosalie Giunta, was a terrific cook and gardener and would often cook meals large enough that her children could invite their neighborhood friends over for a wonderful meal. The Giunta children grew up in Tampa and had families of their own, but the homestead has been the central hub for several generations of Giuntas now.
Upon hearing this, our sales associate, Janet Jackson, went to management with an idea to host a family reunion and celebration on-site before we began clearing the land. We told Sam, his sister Vicky, and brothers Louis and Frank to invite their family and friends back to the homestead for one more get together. The family and some neighbors came out in full support. They hugged, laughed, cried, and reminisced all afternoon.
We were so happy to be a part of such a special day! Sharon McSwain, Founder and President of Domain Homes, greeted the family and honored the four Giunta siblings with a shadowbox of keepsakes taken from the old house. They were touched and deeply grateful. Sharon said, “I do not see this as an end of the celebration; only a transition of the seasons as we prepare four new homesites here and welcome in four new families and give them the opportunity to bring their families in and begin their own experiences and wonderful memories. And the celebration can continue for years to come.”
We had cameras rolling to commemorate the event for the Giuntas and we wanted to share an abbreviated version of their family’s celebration here.
