Being so close to MacDill Air Force Base, we have helped many military members and their families find the homes of their dreams. There has been big news in the military community in the Tampa Bay area as Marine General James Mattis (left) relinquished command to Army General Lloyd Austin III (center) on Friday, March 22.
The ceremony, held at MacDill Air Force Base, anointed Austin as the new commander of Centcom, which is the headquarters for U.S. military operations in the Middle East. He is taking over as the majority of U.S. forces are slated to leave Afghanistan next year after more than a decade of war and the transitioning of security responsibilities to the Afghan people.
Held under tight security, the ceremony was attended by dignitaries and high-ranking military officials, including Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel (right). The new Centcom commander said, “it really is wonderful to be back here in Tampa and be part of this special community”.
