I would do anything for Domain, but I won’t do that!
Since we are building homes in Tampa Bay in what we call a scattered lot program, sign spinners may not be the best strategy for us, but do they work to promote the sale of new homes?
Surely you’ve seen these sidewalk sign spinners in the Tampa Bay area pointing you to a new homes subdivision, tax preparation business, or pet shop. The good ones are part clown, athlete, dancer, and actor. These human directionals really get into it and definitely entertain. They’re usually wearing headphones and are grooving to the beat. Then there are some of them who are not so effective, just checking their phones from time to time or reading a book. Probably best known for pointing house hunters to new home subdivisions, these sign spinners have now been utilized by all types of businesses.
I have to say, though, I’ve never stopped my car and headed to the business just because of a talented twirler. Have you? I wondered how effective this marketing practice really is so I set about to do some research and here’s what I found…
According to Entrepreneur.com, this guerrilla marketing technique has evolved into a profitable form of street performance. In the early 2000’s, two young entrepreneurs, Max Durovic and Michael Kenny, successfully launched AArrow Advertising, a multimillion dollar-a-year company that now has over 500 spinning employees. Liberty Tax Service, that has offices in Tampa, employs a workforce of over 10,000 dancing human directionals dressed like the Statue of Liberty to promote their business during tax season every year. So it’s good for job creation and certain businesses believe this technique helps them get noticed above the noise of all the stationary signage out there.
At Domain Homes our marketing strategy does not include clowns and dancers…at least, not yet. We use other marketing techniques to spread our message that we are building quality from the ground up. Of course, the most effective form of marketing is word of mouth. The greatest compliment we can receive as South Tampa’s #1 home builder is a referral of one of our past customers. We love helping your friends and family members. You can help us by sharing our Facebook page to your friends. You never know who might be thinking of buying a new home in Tampa or a new home in Pinellas soon. Just send them to http://facebook.com/domainhomes. Thanks!
