Best Things To Do in West Tampa
West Tampa is similar to many other parts of Tampa in that it has a diverse array of attractions and sights to enjoy, while also being home to many family-friendly locales.
Variety is the spice of life, you’ll certainly find a variety of awesome places and things in West Tampa!
At MacFarlane Park, you’ll find a five-foot-wide asphalt trail that meanders 1.2 miles via a loop system around the perimeter of the park which is perfect for walking and running.
Al Lopez Park is another beautiful outdoor space in West Tampa where you can enjoy fresh air and exercise. The park is made up of approximately 132 acres and offers a nature trail, freshwater pond, athletics, and a community center.
Ben T. Davis Beach, located directly adjacent to Whisky Joe’s (we’ll get to that later) and right off the Courtney Campbell Causeway is a family-friendly beach that offers walking, running, biking, fishing, swimming and tons of other safe and fun outdoor activities.

At the aforementioned Al Lopez park you can also participate in various 5k and 10k runs based around holidays and other events.
Raymond James is noted for concerts and other forms of live entertainment, but it is most known for being the home of the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 2003 Super Bowl Champions. Additionally, Ray Jay is the home field to the University of South Florida’s football team.
West Tampa is also home to Hillsborough Community College. You can attend any of their numerous sporting events ranging from baseball and volleyball to tennis.
Food and Drink
In the Westshore District, which is full of unique boutiques, and other local hot spots, you won’t just find the Westshore Mall, you’ll find great food as well.
Right at the end of the Courtney Campbell Causeway, you’ll find Whiskey Joe’s. This is a great spot for partying at night, but during the day, people flock to Whiskey Joe’s for the burgers, wings and craft beers as well. You can even drive right up and park your boat at the beach!
For over a decade, 4 Rivers Smokehouse has been serving up Texas-style barbecue that is to die for, a local favorite! They even offer 100 percent plant-based options as well for those with a hankering for bbq but with dietary restrictions.
Since their founding in 2009, Cigar City Brewing has produced an array of award-winning beers that reflect a number of styles but are purely and undeniably Floridian. They offer tours of the facility, or just go and have a few drinks and enjoy the ambiance and great beer.
